About

DENFAIR continues to evolve with the industry, establishing a dedicated new workspace precinct to showcase designs that support our fluid contemporary work lives. Indicative of its maturing platform, the exhibition also introduces its first in-house editor, to strengthen its content offering and curate the Speaker Series.

With its new 2019 direction, LIFE WORK, the exhibition opened up to host of first-time commercial exhibitors whose products support the contemporary workflow.

New in 2019

Designers Meet Designers was a new initiative in 2019, giving A&D professionals and the public a dedicated day to connect with the leading lights of the design industry. An opportunity to connect with the people behind the products and brands.

On Saturday 22 June, 55+ local and international designers appeared exclusively at DENFAIR to discuss their work at participating stands.

Speaker Series

2019 saw our biggest program to date, with a topic to pique everyone’s interest. From ambitious workplaces that enhance quality of life, to meditations on the relationship between wellness and space, and musings on the culture of design, we were able to hear from a diverse cross-section of our design community.

The 2019 Speaker Series was proudly presented by DENFAIR’s 2019 Major Partner, Clipsal by Schneider Electric. Operating at the forefront of technology and design in Australia for nearly a century, their support enabled the Speaker Series to remain free of charge. This reinforces Clipsal by Schneider Electric’s role in sharing innovation and big ideas with the design community and beyond.

Activations

As always, collaboration is key to the success of DENFAIR. Our team worked with a range of design, creative and fabrication talent in order to craft the variety of imaginative, experiential spaces on the show floor. Hospitality venues, including Lounge by Spacecube, the communal Cafe by PGH Bricks & Pavers were designed to communicate the designpossibilities of each partner.

The Chalet Restaurant’s striking timber structure, with industry support from WoodSolutions, captured the well travelled and well designed lifestyle of our 2019 Principal Media Partner, Wallpaper*. Elsewhere, biophilic design took centre stage with two green installations by Adam Cornish and Junglefy.

Awards

The DENFAIR Awards returned in the show’s fifth year to celebrate the design industry’s finest, acknowledging the talent and dedication of our inspiring exhibitor community. Our esteemed judging panel sought out exceptional products and concepts on the show floor which suggest a new way forward for design.
Winners took home trophies designed and produced by Tait, champions of local design and manufacture.

The 2019 awards were presented at the exhibition’s purpose-built Speaker Space. Designed exclusively for the show by Arthur Koutoulas of Joyce Foam Products, with flooring by Polyflor, the modular elements opened up to accommodate the DENFAIR Awards audience.
