What's On

This year’s Melbourne program will feature the notable Speaker Series Talks and DENFAIR Award Presentations at the show, alongside independent creative installations, Front/Centre for emerging designers and experimental hospitality spaces design by famed Australian designer Chris Connell.

All this and more will be complemented by a spacious media lounge where you can enjoy your favourite design publication after a glass of crisp white with some freshly shucked oysters or an a la carte lunch at the Belle Restaurant and Oyster Bar.

Creative Installations

“Found nestled amongst the exhibitor stands visitors will arrive at the beautifully detailed spaces designed by famed Australian designer Chris Connell. With white as the brief and selected as the theme, the spaces reflect a simplicity and support the idea of negative space. Given the constraints of availability, materials and event installation timelines the spaces showcase a broad cross selection of materials found in the architecture and design industry.

The resulting plan views of each of the spaces, which form a series of hieroglyphs, represent a place to assemble, reset and or download; or just to meet with colleagues. Offering a different experience in each location, these spaces provide a sanctuary from the visual cacophony of materials and colour that make up the exhibitor offerings.

As visitors move from hieroglyph to hieroglyph they will find the materials used offer a diffused and translucent quality, while others offer total privacy. These installations evoke the desire to explore and discover, by virtue of glimpses into and out of these simple white forms.

We encourage you to explore the nuances of each space as you make your way around the show, stop enjoy a libation or sample the food offerings.”
